Joel first came on the folk-rock scene during his coffee house days while a student at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He signed his first record deal while still a college senior, and quickly went on to garner fans across the U.S. and Europe, aided by touring and radio play nationwide. After recording three albums on the GoldRhyme label, he put out two more on his own Green Zebra Records.
Joel’s latest offering, Curses and Gifts (mixed by Brad Albetta (Rufus Wainwright, Sean Lennon, Pete Townsend), has a pop and folk-rock aesthetic, influenced in part by the music of Wilco, Leonard Cohen, Ray LaMontagne, acoustic Bruce Springsteen, and the Beatles.
Joel currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
